This week is "Random Acts of Kindness" week at Whiting High School. Students and staff will be recognizing students who show random acts of kindness throughout this week. The class that has the most students recognized will receive a dress down day. In Homeroom this week, students will be doing college and career planning and SAT preparation through Khan Academy.
Assignment Recovery continues this week for students who are failing and miss an assignment. Social Studies is on Monday with Mr. Belyayev. English is on Tuesday with Mr. Popiela. Science is with Ms. Morando on Thursday. Math is on Friday with Mrs. Reese. Failure to attend Assignment Recovery if assigned will result in a detention.
As the weather is getting nicer, we want to remind everyone of our dress code outlined in pages 22 and 23 of the student handbook. No crocs, crop tops, camisoles, or tank tops are allowed to be worn in the school building.
There will be no school this Friday or next Monday due to the President's holiday.
Next week is our spirit week for Sectionals and the Sectionals Dance. Tuesday is Pajama Day, Wednesday is Twin Day, Thursday is a Masquerade theme where students will wear Black and Gold, and Friday's theme is Extreme Green and White. The pep rally will be on Friday during 6th and 7th periods. The Sectionals Dance will be on February 24th if enough tickets are sold. We would like all students who plan to attend purchase their tickets by this Friday February 16th.
Our boys basketball team faces Chesterton High School in the Memorial Gym this Saturday. JV starts at 5:30 and Varsity starts at 7. We hope to see you there!
Thank you for your continued support of our school and community.
Have a great Oiler Week!
