Weekly Update

During Homeroom this week, students will be working on Khan Academy. Additionally, teachers will be checking their Homeroom students' grades and seniors will be completing an Exit Survey about their plans for next year.

The SAT will be on Tuesday March 19th for all Juniors and we will be taking a full-length practice test on March 5th. Although it is only Juniors participating in testing, other students' classroom locations may be effected on those days. The SAT is an important exam that tests college readiness and is only given within our school building once a year. Student results will be used by colleges to determine if students will be accepted or not. Additionally, students who perform well on the SAT may be eligible for various scholarship opportunities. Students have been working on Khan Academy during Homeroom twice a week this year to help them improve their scores. The practice test on March 5th will also help familiarize students with the SAT and improve their scores as well.

Assignment Recovery continues this week for students who are failing a course and miss an assignment in that course. Monday is with Mr. Belyayev for Social Studies, Tuesday is with Mr. Popiela for English, Thursday is with Mr. Long for Science, and Friday is with Mrs. Reese for Math.

Congratulations to the Oilers of the Week from last week, Alyssa Bolzan and Adrian Pito. Teachers vote on Oilers of the week by nominating students who exemplify our 5 core values (Self-advocacy, Responsibility, Self-Discipline, Grit, and Growth Mindset).

As the weather is getting warmer, we want to remind parents that students will need to abide by the dress code outlined on pages 22-23 of the student handbook. Failure to be in dress code may result in a 1 hour or 2 hour detention.

Thank you for your continued support of our school and community.

Have a great Oiler week!
