A message from Superintendent Verta Dear
School City of Whiting Family, As you know, the recent storms that impacted Northwest Indiana have caused significant devastation throughout our region. Many of our families, staff members, and community members are still without power, and some are dealing with major damage to their homes and property.
After considering the impact this storm continues to have on our Whiting community and surrounding communities, we have made the decision to adjust our upcoming schedule.
Parent Open House: Monday, August 17 | 4:00-6:30 p.m.
First Day of School for Students: Tuesday, August 18
We believe this additional time is important as our families and community continue to recover. Our priority is to make sure everyone has the opportunity to take care of their families, homes, and immediate needs before we welcome our students back.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding. More importantly, thank you for continuing to support one another during a difficult time for our community.

Please know if we get more really bad weather in the next couple days, we might have to push things back.
