Just a reminder that Thursday is an eLearning Day and Parent/Teacher Conferences. If you have not signed up for a conference yet, please reach out to your child's teacher. We have both virtual and in-person times available. Also, Wednesday is Unity Day and we are encouraging students to wear orange, the color that represents anti-bullying and unity, to unite against bullying and donate a dollar for our local Whiting YMCA. All donations go towards scholarships to help students and families with financial assistance with programming and membership. Help us put the "UNITY" in our "Community!"

Don't forget tomorrow is Walk to School Day! We are encouraging all students to walk to school on Wednesday, October 5th in celebration of National Walk to School Day! Students who normally get dropped off can be dropped off at the corner of Oliver and 117th by the Little League fields and we will have staff and WHS and WMS Honor Society students walking them to Nathan Hale. Bus riders will also be dropped off at the football parking lot so they are also able to participate and we will have staff walking them, as well. All students who walk on October 5th will receive a fun surprise that has been donated by the City of Whiting! I'll give you a hint... it will be a "sock-standing" day!

Don't forget that tomorrow, Friday, May 20th, is Bike to School Day! The City of Whiting has donated special bags for every student who walks or rides their bike to school on that day and the INDOT will be coming to speak to our K-2 students about bike safety and bringing every kindergartner, first grader, and second grader a new bike helmet! We will also be drawing names to give away four brand new bikes! So be sure to get those wheels pumped up and bikes cleaned off to ride to school on Friday! If you are a car rider, you can get dropped off by the Little League fields and we have high school students and staff who will be walking students down to Nathan Hale. Bus riders will be dropped off by the football parking lot and also walk with supervision. We're looking forward to a great morning!

We have had several parents reach out in regards to this situation to ask if students can wear their baseball or softball jerseys on Monday in support of this little boy's tragic passing. Students are welcome to wear them in honor of Lazar's memory and epilepsy awareness.
