We are excited to offer our second SCW Parent University for SCW parents and students tomorrow, Tuesday, March 18th from 5:30-7:30 pm at Nathan Hale. You can enter through Door 4. It will be a great night out with breakout stations for our new STOPit app for reporting threats, 21st Century Scholar Sign Up, and a session on graduation requirements for upcoming 2029 graduates. Additionally, there will be a resource fair withinformation on a variety of topics relating to mental health. There will be a free spaghetti dinner sponsored by the Whiting ELKS for all who attend! You can attend one or all the sessions.

Yesterday was Read Across America Day. We will be celebrating this Friday, March 7th at Nathan Hale. We will read across Nathan Hale from 8:20-8:40 am as a school and students can dress up as their favorite book character, either a fictional character or a historic person from a nonfiction book. We look forward to a fun day of celebrating reading!

Dear Families,
As we begin the SCW construction project at WMS and WHS, we wanted to make you aware of some parking and traffic adjustments to the arrival and dismissal procedures.. The staff parking lot on New York Ave. is not available for student drop off and will be barricaded beginning at 7:30 am each morning. Please follow the regular drop off routes. When dropping off on Oliver Street, do not park on the west side of the street, as it is not safe for students to cross in front of moving cars.
Barricades at the entrance of the staff lot will return in the afternoon. Do not enter through the exit area, as this will create a safety hazard. The parking lot will be unavailable at dismissal time and will reopen once all students have exited and safely cleared the area, allowing parking for after school activities.
Student safety is everyone’s responsibility. We appreciate your support with adhering to these procedures.

We are looking forward to a fun last two days of school before winter break!
omorrow during the day, students will be participating Camp Read-a-Lot in their grade level classrooms, playing fun reading games and activities. Students can dress up in camping attire, whether it be jeans, flannel shirts, or puffy jackets. If students choose not to dress to the theme, they should just come in their regular school uniform. No accessories should be included, just attire! Thank you and we're looking forward to a fun afternoon!

Holiday Music Program & Art Show
The holiday music program and art show will be held on Friday, December 13th.
K, 1, & 2 will perform first at 1:15 pm.
Families can enter between 12:45 to 1:15 to view the artwork. The music concert will start promptly at 1:15.
3, 4, & 5 will follow at 2:15 pm.
Families can enter between 1:45 to 2:15 to view the artwork and the concert will begin at 2:15.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner! As a reminder, students will be on break from Wednesday, November 27th through Friday, November 29th. They will return on Monday, December 2nd. I've attached a copy of our November newsletter that was sent home in Friday Folders a few weeks ago. La nota es en English y espanol, tambien. Today and every day we thank Veterans everywhere for their service. There aren’t enough words to show our gratitude for all the troops who served our country. To all Veterans out there, we honor, respect, and support you.
Also, as it is Veteran's Day, the Whiting Public Library is closed. Keep this in mind if your child regularly goes there after school.
