Just a reminder that today is our first early release day of the year! NH students dismiss at 2:30 but all normal pick up procedures apply. As a reminder, you need to be in line to pick up your child for a hand to hand pick up. Do not pull up on Oliver or 119th Street and ask children to walk out to your car. The teachers will not release the students to do that as it's not safe.
Also, at morning drop off, do not park across the street and have students walk in front of cars. Wait in the drop off line and pull up to the curb. We are out there to help little ones get out of the car if necessary, but you need to stay in your car, in the drop off line, and pull up to the curb. It takes everyone working together to keep our students safe and create a smooth drop off. There is often a line from 7:35-7:45, as families are dropping off high school students, as well, down the street. Please be patient. Every school has a drop off line that requires waiting. As a parent, I've sat in many myself! Mornings in the car are a great time to talk about the day, play I Spy games like finding things that start with different letters, or listen to fun music.

We had such a great turnout for Back to School Night! Thank you to all our families for coming out and our teachers and staff for working tirelessly to be ready for tonight to meet and greet all of our new students!
Here is the link to our NH Handbook with information regarding policies and procedures in the School City of Whiting, including drop off and pick up. Please review these so you will know where to go tomorrow. We are looking forward to a great first day!

• Summer school begins June 10th from 8:30-11:30 for those in 2nd and 3rd grade attending. We will send home a detailed letter with all the pertinent information prior to it starting.

Well, we made it through two of our three groups for Field Day today! Despite multiple checks on the radar, our kindergarten and first grade groups got surprised by a spring storm while out on the field. We sheltered in place under the bleachers in the concession stand and restrooms and our amazing transportation staff rallied to take us all back to Nathan Hale when the rain slowed down! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who were out there today helping for the event and with the little ones during the storm. You were VERY appreciated! We are working on a make up time for kindergarten and first grade for their Field Day and will keep you posted. Also, be sure to check out the pictures on our Facebook page of AM PreK and 2nd through 5th graders from earlier today! We hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and we will see you Tuesday!
