SCW families- the phone lines are currently down due to yesterday's brief power outage. We are working to resolve the issue. Thank you!

Attention to anyone who picks up a 1st grader after school:
Due to some unexpected work that needs to be done on our primary building near Door 1, first grade students will be dismissing this week from our main door, Door 4. Please line up as you normally would at Door 4, with three separate lines, one for each classroom. Thank you for your patience and flexibility.

We are so excited for tomorrow night's OPERATION Stem Night! It starts at 5:00 and goes until 6:30. Enter through Door 4 or the Dock Door off the Nathan Hale playground. The Dock Door will only be open until 5:30. Door 4 will be open until 6:30. We have so many great activities that involve learning about the human body, along with games like the life size operation game! Mind Benders will be here along with the Whiting Fire Dept., who will be doing blood pressure screenings as students learn about how exercise effects the heart! We have yummy treats to make that look like band-aids and an opportunity for families to try an Escape Room! All students who attend will receive a lab coat and other surprises so don't miss out and we hope to see you tomorrow!

Due to the predicted extreme temperatures and -20 below wind chills, Wednesday January 26th will be an e-learning day for all students grades K-12. Pre-k classes are canceled, as well. All classroom assignments and teacher office hours will be posted in google classroom/See Saw by 8 am. All students are expected to log into their google classrooms or See Saw to answer their attendance question so they can be counted present. Stay warm!

Dear Families,
The Whiting Public Library is initiating a new policy regarding visitors. Due to the high number of COVID cases, the Whiting Public Library is requiring that children under the age of 14 be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. If you have any questions, you can contact the library for more information. Thank you!

We are very excited for Field Day tomorrow and looking forward to a day of fun in the sun!
It is a dress down day for all students and we encourage them to wear shorts and their favorite team shirt with gym shoes. Students will ONLY be able to participate if they are in gym shoes. Students should bring a regular water bottle (not disposable) with their name on it. We will have water jugs for students to refill their bottles at the field. Also, students can either bring a sack lunch or receive a lunch at school. There will be NO peanut butter and jelly option tomorrow. Students will receive a hot dog, chips, apple slices, and milk if they choose to get a lunch at school.
Remote learners will still login to their class in the morning and the teacher will share their schedule with how the day will be broken up. We encourage our remote learners to participate in fun outdoor activities while our in person students are participating in Field Day at school.
Also, in the reminders that went home with in person students last week, we stated the last day of school was a regular school day. Monday, June 7th is actually an early release day, so on the last day of school, students will dismiss at 2:00.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the first of two PreK & Kindergarten registration days. If you have a child who will be 5 by August 1st, they are able to enroll for kindergarten at Nathan Hale for the upcoming school year. If you have a child who will be 4 by August 1st, they are able to enroll in one of our half day preK programs. Head Start also takes three year olds, so if your child will be 3 by August 1st, you can enroll him or her, as well!
